Editorial Policy

How Feed Viewer chooses topics, checks claims, names writers, dates articles and handles corrections and commercial links.

The promise behind the site

Publishing about RSS readers, curation, social feeds and newsletters without saying how you work is asking for trust you have not earned. This is how we work.

The drafting process

A draft goes through four hands worth of work. The writer separates what they know from what they assume. The assumptions are either checked against something nameable or deleted. What is left gets written up. Then a second person reads it looking only for overconfidence, which is the failure this subject invites most.

What the date means

The date you see is real. A tidy up of wording leaves it alone; only a change to what the piece recommends moves the modified date, along with a note saying so.

The names on the work

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it and links to their profile. We do not publish under a house byline, because a house cannot be asked to explain itself.

Leocadia Fennimore, Feeds and RSS editor. Leocadia has used RSS since the days of Google Reader and never stopped. She edits the site's feed and reader coverage and keeps around four hundred subscriptions under control.

Mateus Oyelaran, Social media and curation writer. Mateus ran social media accounts for brands before deciding most feeds were designed to be endless. He now writes about curating them back into something useful.

Winifred Castellane, Reading tools reviewer. Winifred is a digital librarian who tests read-later apps, highlighters and note tools. She writes about reading lists people actually finish and the tools that help.

The money side

We earn from some outbound links. That pays for hosting and research time, and it does not decide the verdict of any page.

If a partner asks us to remove a criticism, the answer is no, and the request itself may end up mentioned in a future article.

Where topics come from

We do not plan an editorial calendar. Articles appear when a question has come up often enough to be worth answering properly.

How mistakes are handled

Corrections go to info@feedviewerapp.com. Include the address and the sentence. Anything factual is fixed without argument. Anything that changes what the article recommends gets a dated note underneath, so the change is visible.
